Last week, Hartzell Propeller announced the STC approval of our Trailblazer composite propeller for the Aviat Husky. The two-blade prop replaces the aluminum Hartzell propeller which comes standard on all Husky models and offers significant benefits to pilots. The Trailblazer is a composite propeller designed with STOL performance in mind. Specifically, it increases climb rate and reduces takeoff distance. The Husky climbs 10% faster with the Trailblazer, and is able to take at 12% shorter distances.
The Trailblazer composite propeller provides bush pilots with much more than performance increases, however. The prop is also eco-friendly. It can spin at maximum RPM while meeting the latest FAR 36 noise restrictions (again, helping with STOL performance) while still on the ground. The Trailblazer offers safety advantages as well. The blade’s nickel-cobalt leading edge protects the Husky against damage from anything nature could throw at it.
This is prop was designed with the outdoorsman in mind, but it breaks the mold by declaring that bush pilots will no longer have to choose between performance and durability.
