Aircraft Balance with Jim Reed, Technical Director of the Red Bull Air Race

Date: March 23, 2017 Category: Blog Tags: ,

As the Red Bull Air Race pilots prep for the next race in San Diego on April 15th and 16th, Jim “Jimbo Reed”, Technical Director of the race, took time out recently to talk about how pilots can shift CofG (Centre of Gravity) throughout the race.

A pilot’s ability to shift the CofG relies on their ability to control the four forces of flight. In this video, Reed discusses how pilots find that balance, and how manipulating it affects the handling of the aircraft.
